Wine & Beverage Leader Providence Gracie's Ventures

The ideal candidate serves as a leader, educator, and coach to Gracie's Front of House team. This person will set forth Gracie's Beverage service standards, ensure that the team is well informed, well-practiced, and committed to providing the high level of service that Gracie's Ventures prides itself on. Above all, the Wine & Beverage Leader is expected to foster a positive working environment, create genuine guest interactions, and memorable dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Thoughtfully plan and educate on the wine program in a way that adds quality and value to enhance the guest experience
  • Advise and establish wine pairings for all menus
  • Actively seek opportunities to connect with guests during service periods by being present in the dining room and/or bar
  • Coordinate wine events and lead wine classes for the restaurant when appropriate
  • Design and organize wine education programs and initiatives that assist the leadership teams in educating the team (i.e. lineup tastings, regular testing, purveyor visits, educational trips, etc.)
  • Plan and organize weekly lessons centered around wine and beer, or beverage service
  • Work with the Proprietor to maintain the profitability of the wine program, maintain weekly and monthly budgetary goals
  • Attend weekly meetings with the leadership team to outline the beverage goals, reflect on the prior month's achievements, and review the sales and profitability of the wine program
  • Provide ample and continuous beverage training, tasting and education to ensure team wine, beer, liquor, and beverage knowledge is the best in our industry
  • Work closely with the Front of House leadership team to organize, coach, and train new teammates, specifically in the arena of wine and beverage
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with vendors and sales representatives, displaying decorum and respect in accordance with Gracie's mission and values
  • Continuously taste, research, and remain active & relevant in the industry
  • Select wines for any monthly subscription service
  • Conduct monthly beverage inventory and mait. of storage in a timely manner

Metrics for Success... Success in this role is measured by the following criteria:

  • Maintaining beverage cost proposed by budget ea. year
  • Regularly achieving monthly sales goals
  • Successful team engagement in sales initiatives, incentives, and participation
  • Continued growth in wine sales
  • Successful sales to wine-related special events
  • Constantly changing and evolving Wine Cellar, including By The Glass Selections
  • Positive and productive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Positive and professional communication with teammates and guests alike
  • The growth of the team provided by your education

Hiring Requirements:

  • 3 Years of experience in the hospitality industry, with 1 year in Beverage service
  • Minimum Associate's degree from an accredited university in Beverage Management, Food Service, or similar field Certification from the Court of Master Sommelier or Wine & Spirits Education Trust, or similar agency (highly encouraged)
