Cake Designer & Baker Providence Ellie's

General Job Requirements:

Learn more about our inclusive team atmosphere that we curate: The Cake Designer & Baker is responsible for the execution of creating and designing cakes for Ellie's including case pars and special orders. This person will participate in the production of items in the bakery case, ensuring the quality of all the items that are produced meet the standards of Ellie's cake-wise. This person will meet with clients to design a memorable cake/dessert display that merges the client's vision, innovative creativity, and Ellie's style.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work cooperatively with others and accepts directions/assignments from supervisors
  • Review all notices for new menu ideas with the pastry chef and team. Participates in menu development and training the team on the production of new items
  • Participate in creative conversations in menu development, future improvements, and goals in an open forum
  • Organize the weekly production of cakes to meet the pars for the case and special orders
  • Design and decorate cakes with the vision of the guests and Ellie's style in mind
  • Participate in wedding expos and events as scheduled by the Pastry Chef to build visibility and connect with new clients
  • Inform Pastry Chef of any supplies that need to be ordered to ensure proper execution of the cake menu, helping to source items based on client requests and style ideas
  • Manage to abide to a decor schedule to ensure orders are fulfilled in an efficient manner. Discusses schedule with pastry chef weekly and requests assistance in completing cake orders/production when necessary
  • Participate in teaching baking classes to the public to educate all skill levels on baking techniques
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist the bakery in obtaining and maintaining the mission
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of kitchen working space both throughout production and daily break-down
  • Responsible for communicating to the manager about equipment status and keeping up with scheduled maintenance Metrics of Success

Compensation This is an hourly position, $18/hr. to start. This is a living document and additional responsibilities or modifications are subject to management discretion. Job Descriptions are reviewed annually. Job Type: Full-time @ 225 Weybosset St., Providence, RI. Bakery Schedule: 10 hour shift 8 hour shift Holidays Weekend availability Shift availability: Early AM Availability A MUST


  • Cake Decorating: 2 years (Required)
  • Wedding Cake: 1 year (Required)
  • Education: Associate (Preferred)
