Stockroom Clerk Newport The Preservation Society of Newport County

General Job Requirements:

The Preservation Society of Newport County seeks a Stockroom Clerk to work at The Breakers retail store. The Breakers is a fast paced environment that hosts visitors from all over the world. The Stockroom Clerk will play a crucial role in ensuring the store's inventory is well-organized and adequately stocked. The position reports to the The Breakers store manager and other retail store management to receive in, unpack, organize and store the inventory and supplies in the proper locations. This position is part time and will work up to 28 hours a week, Monday -Friday. Certain events will require working evenings, holidays, and weekends. Receive incoming merchandise orders delivered to The Breakers store for accuracy and check for damage or discrepancies. Products are to be checked for accuracy in labeling. Items are unpacked and compared to the packing slip noting sku number, description, and quantity. Must initial after each item is checked in. Note at the bottom of each page any errors along with initials and date. If items arrive damaged or wrong items delivered, note on packing slip, and inform store management. Clean merchandise if needed after unpacking before placing it on shelves. Unpacked merchandise will be placed on a cart and brought into the store for display person and restocking as directed by store management. Merchandise remaining in the stockroom will be placed on appropriate shelves properly taking into consideration department category, and accessibility using safe storage methods. Items left in boxes, the sku and description is to be marked clearly on outside of box. Inform store manager of any low inventory items. Restock soda and water in cooler and make sure there is enough backup on the sales floor. Assist with regular inventory counts reporting discrepancies to store management. Provide friendly and helpful service to customers when approached in the store, and assist with inquiries about product location and availability. Perform other related duties as required or directed. Follow prescribed safety and health rules, regulations, and practices

The desirable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
High School degree, GED or equivalent experience. Team player with excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills. Basic computer and counting skills including POS system. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Occasionally be able to lift 30 or more pounds, carry and move heavy items. Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines. Retail environment with regular standing and walking unassisted. Current Driver's License
