General Job Requirements:
Prestigious, historic fine dining restaurant in Providence has an immediate opening for an Executive Chef. Candidates are expected to be up to date on food safety certs. Should be familiar with inventory management, maintenance of kitchen equipment, recipe development, food and labor costing, menu creation, and team building. Ideal candidates will have at least five years experience in Italian cuisine, a culinary degree, and a solid work ethic. This is a working chef's position-you will be expected to work the line. Executive Chef Responsibilities, in addition to working The Line Include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and directing food preparation and culinary activities
- Modifying menus or create new ones that meet quality standards
- Estimating food requirements and food/labor costs
Duties:
- Plan and direct food preparation

- Supervise kitchen staff’s activities
- Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs with General Manager
- Recruit and manage kitchen staff
- Rectify arising problems or complaints
- Perform administrative duties
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Keep time and payroll records
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Education Requirements:
- Proven working experience as a head chef
- Excellent record of kitchen management
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Capable of delegating multiple tasks
- Communication and leadership skills
- Up to date food safety certifications
- Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs
- BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate
