Sous Chef Newport PENNYPACK, LLC

SEASONAL SOUS CHEF (PRIVATE ESTATE)
Location: Newport, Rhode Island
Dates: July 15 – September 15 (potential for extension)

POSITION OVERVIEW
A private estate in Newport, Rhode Island is seeking a skilled and adaptable Seasonal Sous Chef to support culinary operations during the summer season. This role requires a dedicated professional capable of working in a high-expectation, fast-paced environment, preparing meals for both staff and principals.
The ideal candidate is a strong team player who can also work independently, takes direction well, and maintains a high level of professionalism and discretion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and cook daily lunch and dinner for 30+ staff members
  • Plan and execute staff meal menus
  • Assist the Chef and Executive Chef with meal preparation for principals
  • Grocery shop and manage ingredient sourcing
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen spaces
  • Wash dishes and ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned
  • Support all kitchen operations and adapt to daily needs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef
  • Ability to take direction from lead chefs
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent time management and organization
  • Comfortable in a high-demand, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to perform all kitchen duties, including cleaning

SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT

  • 12–15 hour workdays
  • 6 days per week, with occasional 7-day workweeks as needed
  • Seasonal position with potential for extension

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role requires stamina, flexibility, and a strong work ethic. It is an immersive, hands-on position within a private estate setting with high standards for performance and professionalism.

Education and Experience Requirements
3 years of culinary experience
