Kaffeology is seeking a skilled, motivated, and dependable Sous Chef to join our Cranston team. This position is ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment, values teamwork, and has a passion for elevated comfort food, brunch, and creative seasonal dishes.
The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen leadership team to ensure consistent food quality, efficient kitchen operations, and a positive team culture.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations and service execution
- Lead and support line cooks and prep staff during service
- Maintain high standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and food cost control
- Ensure proper food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness standards are followed
- Help train and develop kitchen staff
- Contribute to menu development, specials, and seasonal features
- Support scheduling and kitchen organization as needed
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude during high-volume service
Schedule Requirements:
- Nights and weekends are required
- Full-time availability preferred
- Must be available during holidays and peak business hours/days
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years of kitchen leadership experience preferred
- Previous Sous Chef experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of line cooking, prep systems, and kitchen organization
- Ability to multitask and lead in a high-volume environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience with brunch and scratch cooking preferred
- Food safety certification is a plus
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required
