Deli Clerk plays an essential role in providing excellent customer service while maintaining high standards of food preparation, sanitation, and product presentation. Reporting directly to the store manager, this position requires working effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic deli and retail environment. The role includes a flexible scheduling arrangement with regular full shifts, part-time hours, weekends and holidays.
We are a small Italian deli and grocer looking for an experienced deli clerk with the ability to slice meats. Training provided as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist customers with deli product selections and inquiries
- Prepare and package deli items (meats, cheeses, and antipasto) and sandwiches following health and safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
- Organize and display deli products attractively and accurately
- Fulfill customer orders efficiently and accurately
- Monitor product quality to ensure freshness and compliance
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in retail or food service
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Customer service skills
- Awareness of food safety practices
- Experience with inventory management
